Simple thought for simplicity:

Does being yourself mean you exclude yourself from the others and the environment?

I think being myself means to make a difference between my own thoughts and those
of my environment; other people's opinions. But any identity is part of it's surroundings
(and made by it's surroundings). So, best way I have found for being myself is to
observe the environment and surroundings from a point of view, that makes me me.
Then I can also be part of what is happening and not outside of it.

I think you are yourself when you are here and now, in present and behave in a way you do not care what other think - when you are singing alone at home

Also in a moments when you do not have time to think, when you react fast.

I must agree on that singing part too.

But am I more myself in my car, because I sing a lot when I'm driving alone?

Is the situation some how different when you are in the car then? If you think how does it feel to you, you might have the answer.

I think while driving you change your emotional state and want to express it.
