Hi all forumusers,
I have been reading some things of body meridians (read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meridian_%28Chinese_medicine%29) and how to apply the knowledge in whole body health, with stretching, massaging and acupuncture, sometimes even diet.
It would be nice to discuss if any of you have experiences on meridian treatments and applications, either home-use or treatments done by specialists. Thank you in advance!   _________________ "As you think, so shall you become." - Bruce Lee

Nice article, thank you Irene. Grandmasters therapy seems to hold on the same principles as the meridianpractises I have been reading about.
What is this Bil Ош punch like? (I guess the last letter is not douple-u?) How does the punch work then? Thank you very much!   _________________ "As you think, so shall you become." - Bruce Lee

It does. I think in one of the articles it is stated that his therapy is based on meridian therapy principles, that's why I remembered this article when you raised the topic.
Sorry about Bil Ош. Since I write in both English and Russian I have a program that changes the keyboard layout for me. And sometimes when it doesn't recognize words in one language it switches to another without indications and I didn't check what I wrote It was meant to be Bil Jee (like the third form of Wing Chun) - a punch with fingers in special points in the human body. I read somewhere that when GrandMaster was working with one of his early students he touched him in a precise manner in the correct spot and he felt very ill and after that he did something with other spots and he began to feel better. The same thing with meridian therapy as far as I understand - you touch "good" spots which leads to curing.   _________________ What doesn't destroy me, makes me stronger. - F. Nietzshe

Wow, that sounds quite awesome and tefrifying at the same time. I am glad I am not at that high level to learn such a power yet - I first need to manage myself   _________________ "As you think, so shall you become." - Bruce Lee

Believe me it was so uncool when our previous instructor used this technique just for kicks and giggles And it was more than half a year ago so our reaction was so much slower... And because it's very precise movement and it doesn't have to be very powerful to do much damage, you don't need a wide swing to do it.
SiFu likes to do it just for fun as well   _________________ What doesn't destroy me, makes me stronger. - F. Nietzshe

Is that so? Are they not doing it on important pressure points, then? The way I have understand it is that you can do also damage with pressing certain poits, if you don't know what you are doing. It would be quite a skill to use it for fun, I think
In the form at least the finger trusts seem to target neck and ribcage area, very sensitive for pressure points.
Here is a video of Bil Jee form for reference purposes

Yep, the key words there were 'for fun' without any intention to harm anyone.
From what I read to inflict damage the same pressure points are used as in curing. That's why students learn this form when they are good at controlling themselves.   _________________ What doesn't destroy me, makes me stronger. - F. Nietzshe

Interesting. Because in curing with the points, according to the books I have read, you are meant to 'open' the energy channels. I might then be that the same channels can be 'closed', depending on how you treat the spots. I need to be careful with selftreatment for now on.   _________________ "As you think, so shall you become." - Bruce Lee

Yeah, I would apply only the things I really trust myself I know... experimenting is fun but experimenting wisely must be a must! At least I wouldn't play with meridians and pressure points on my own after some stories our SiFu told us I can't share them because I promised I wouldn't, but knowing is enough for me.   _________________ Не пытайся - делай.

The other day I came across an article in Black Belt
The Nature and Origins of Chi Power in Wing Chun Kung Fu Training. It's a short intro to the Grandmaster's book "How to develop Chi power". And from this article it's abvious that the book is about the pressure points and appropriate time to use them.   _________________ What doesn't destroy me, makes me stronger. - F. Nietzshe
