Received a newsletter form the New York Times today and it contained a review for The Grandmaster:
"The Grandmaster", a hypnotically beautiful dream from the Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai, opens with curls of smoke, eddies of water and men soaring and flying across the frame as effortlessly as silk ribbons. The men are warriors, street fighters with furious fists and winged feet, who have massed together on a dark, rainy night to take on Ip Man (Tony Leung), a still figure in a long coat and an elegant white hat. Even amid the violent whirlpools of rain and bodies, that hat never leaves his head. It’s as unyielding as its owner.

All those who have seen the Ip Man movies: How do you think they represent the wing chun ideas and principles? Thank you!
I think the first Ip Man movie shows the fastness and not-for-show-nature of the moves, and that with practice everyday and everywhere
brings great results.   _________________ "As you think, so shall you become." - Bruce Lee

Hello everyone,
I saw this teaser in Donnie Yen's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=750364621699435 and it looks like he might be acting in new Ip Man movie.
On the previous movies; I have seen the first two and liked them both. First one was better and more consistent. Second one was ok until the last quarter.
Maybe I should watch them both again to see how wing chun ideas and principles are represented.   |

Maybe, Faroth I think these movies, especially the first one about Ip Man, are a great way to show a personality, in the context of his life, where Wing Chun is something he dedicated his life to. Just like doctors dedicate their lives to curing, and so on. It creates a different image from the movies where fighting is the main focus and is much about showing off.   _________________ Не пытайся - делай.
